I'm certain I picked the right "co-parent", especially after the birth of our daughter. I had a life-threatening birth and was unable to be there for my daughter as I wished I would've been in the first few hours and days of her birth. My husband was extremely supportive, loving and hands-on with our daughter. I can proudly say that HE was the one that changed Gabriella's poopie diapers before I did, held her before I did, calmed her from crying, even feeding her before I could so it. So, that alone showed me that yes, I did pick the right man to be the father of my child.

This is not to say that we've had challenges in the beginning and some heartfelt conversations about his role in our daughter's life, BUT I can happily say that we're both here for the long run, and I can only wish that my daughter's future husband (if she chooses to marry, who knows! LOL) is HALF the man my husband is.

just ran into a friend of mine who is a comic with a wife and two kids. He says he is on the road 45 weeks a year! talk about gulp.
I hope you are feeling well. It's exciting. Just know now that it will bug you when he goes. Better that it not be a surprise for you. And thanks!

two things:

1) i love you in this video b/c i feel exactly the same way - i feel like everyone's always gushing "HE IS THE MOST AMAZING FATHER" which always feels sort of alienating to me? and also - what does that really mean?
my baby isn't due for a couple more months and while i think my husband's going to be a great dad - i certainly don't plan on shouting it from the rooftops - and i'm sure he'll also drive me nuts sometimes.

2) so hear you on the but-could-he-have-a-different-schedule thing. my hubs is a consultant and sometimes has to travel up to 3 nites a week. no idea how it's going to go once the baby lands, but i know it'll be interesting! *gulps*
