There no need to be nervous about hurting them, It doesn't hurt them like it would hurt a grown man, they have yet to mature in that area that way. I find it easier to clean everything else first and that last. I also use an extra wipee to squeeze out all the soapy water it has in it to wash it a little extra. Who know one wipee held THAT much liquid. But it helps especially when they are uncirc. I have 2 boys and it has really become the routine. =) I know it doesn't save on wipees but i'd rather have less wipees than a baby w/ an infection down there.

I was always so gentle with my son when I changed his diaper. I was so afraid I was going to hurt him until he found his...package. He pulled and pinched and twisted with so much force I thought he might pull something off. Well everything stayed attached and I realized that I didn't have to be so nervous when I was cleaning him up.

LOL Kyrstal, "...or just set them off." so true. That's the dicey part. When you only know boys bits from dating and now you must respect them in a different way.
Yes, girls have all the detail of a Thomas English muffin, but I know what pressure where is okay and what is not, so that's why a girl was easier for me.

I'm the oldest of 5 kids (well 7, if you count the steps now... but I didn't grow up with them), and I changed a LOT of little girl diapers since my only brother is only 3 years younger than me, but my sisters are 7, 9 and 11 years younger... So I assumed I would have a baby girl cause that's what I knew....

And of course had a boy. I was separated from my first husband when I had my son, and had NO clue how to navigate cleaning his uncirc "area". I actually resorted to calling a health nurse and asking what to do. lol Embarrassing, but SO informative. The funniest thing is she was reading from a manual that actually had instructions for cleaning an uncirc baby boy! ROFLOL How funny is that?! Made me feel better though.

I totally disagree with you Denise. I totally agree with the second comment by Becky.

Since boys parts are all outside and dangling that makes it easier to wipe off even with foreskin.

A girl has too many folds which makes it harder to clean out.

I think that boys are harder to clean up than girls. I am sure that it is mostly what I am comfortable dealing with, but it feels like I have to manuver part around a lot after a messy diaper, and it kind of weirded me out.

I too had to ask, "how gentle do I need to be?"

thanks for the fun vlogs!

I agree, thank God for my husband. I don't know how many times I asked, "Does this look right?" "Should it be this big?" "Are those too big?"

It was hysterical...

I was just the opposite. I had no problems with the business of diaper changes with my first born son. It wasn't until I had my daughter that I thought the whole cleaning issue could be tricky. The poo just gets into so many nooks and crannies with a girl. On top of that, their little nooks and crannies are just so little that I thought I would hurt her when I tried to clean them out.

Amen to that! I have 2 boys, and when my first one was born, I was all "What the heck do I do with that?". Thank got my husband has the same set of jewels and showed me how to handle them.
I was way worried I was going to over clean them, under clean them or just set them off. It just felt weird to me to be in that area so much.
Glad I wasn't the only clueless mom out there.
