Up here in publicly funded healthcare land you are lucky if you get fed at all (I didn't with one delivery - no supper, and my husband got me take-out for breakfast because they forgot me again), and if you are fed, there is no choice. With my other delivery one meal was liver and onions. Seriously. Wowie mauie chicken or whatever sounds pretty good compared to that, huh? I think it is amazing you get a menu to choose stuff from. Interestingly enough, the food at the hospital where I delivered at was so amazingly delicious, I wanted to stay longer. In fact, I begged my Dr. to let me stay past my 2:00 discharge so I could stay for my dinner tray!! Crazy huh? They had these amazing carved, slow roasted turkey breast sandwiches on crusty baguettes of bread! I have never been so hungry as after giving birth and that food is terrible!! Hubby brought me the biggest smoothie he could find. It took me an hour to drink it but it was the greatest thing I have ever tasted! When my mom had my youngest brother in '92, they gave her a nice steak dinner on her last night there. So, it was quite the shock when, the weekend of her delivery, they had closed the kitchen for remodeling and all that was at our disposal was frozen/reheated stuff -- and they had wacky hours so we kept missing meals. Bummer. Houston's would have been a nice alternative! I'm kinda craving it now...
